Bidding can be hugely rewarding, yet can equally be quite stressful and lonely at times. We hope that our WIBAP community can really help to share great experiences as well as help us to overcome challenges that we face as individuals and as an industry.
I’m personally so excited to see what the future has in store for us and I’m honoured to have met such amazing and inspiring people through WIBAP already!
I’ve been working in bids since 2013 and am currently a Bid Manager at Thomsons Online Benefits, where I’ve been for the past three years. Before that I worked in the bid team at NG Bailey IT Services.
Like most people I fell into bidding accidentally because I like writing and spotting typos. I’ve mostly learnt on the job and from other people, which is why I think building networks of support, like WIBAP, is so vital for our personal and professional development.
Working in a business that was actively developing its proposals offering, showed that only a few people really knew what a specialism it is. In previous jobs I’d always gone out of my way to create and improve documents and marketing material, so it’s a role that really speaks to my natural tendencies.
I’m keen to raise the profile of the industry and highlight that it is so much more than “admin”, as well as supporting equality in the workplace; building networks and sharing intelligence with
